Crochet : Kindle Cover

I am always looking for quick projects to crochet; this is something I’ve learned the hard way. In my bedroom, in a bag, lies a Tunisian crochet project that is currently about 2.5 feet by 2.5 feet. It needs to be at least 6 feet by 6 feet. I have been working on this intermittently for months and it’s just never ending!

Admittedly, it will look beautiful when it’s done but it just takes forever!

Here’s what it looked like when I started:

I know it’s pretty but ohmygod, it takes so looooong!

Moral of the story? Go for quick wins. Make things that don’t take up too much of my time and get that instant glow of satisfaction at a job completed.

Sooooooo.

I am always looking for crochet tutorials on youtube for inspiration and that’s exactly what happened when I came across this.

I used Aran weight yarn for the body and DK weight for the  piping. The button is from John Lewis’s haberdashery.

My kindle fits ever so snugly into this cover.

The stitch pattern is really simple but looks so effective! The original youtube pattern had a lovely Mandala flap but I wanted a simple strap so I just used the same stitch pattern to add it.

I liked my Kindle cover so much, I made one for a friend and sent it over to India for her birthday. She likes owls, so I added a little owl accessory to it. Am happy to say that she likes it very much. 🙂
